Producer Information

Domaine Poupat: The little known appellation of Coteaux du Giennois is situated around the towns of Gien and Briare on the Loire just north of Sancerre. The 10 hectare Domaine Poupat has mainly red grapes with only 4 hectares of Sauvignon for the dry white. The domaine uses no oak, preferring to produce fresh, fruity styles. The pretty town of Briare is well worth a visit; most notable features include the large number of bridges and viaducts. Here is the longest canal bridge in Europe built by Eiffel in 1894.
